What We Do
SalaryCalc.us is a free salary and paycheck calculator that shows your exact take-home pay after federal income tax, state income tax, and FICA (Social Security and Medicare) deductions. We cover all 50 US states and Washington D.C. with up-to-date 2026 tax brackets sourced directly from the IRS.
Unlike many calculators that only show a rough estimate, SalaryCalc.us uses the full progressive bracket structure for both federal and state taxes, applies the correct standard deduction for your filing status, and accounts for pre-tax contributions like 401(k), IRA, and HSA that reduce your taxable income.
Why We Built This
Salary negotiations, job offers, and financial planning all require a clear answer to one question: “How much will I actually take home?” Most calculators make you sign up, show ads for financial products, or hide the breakdown behind a paywall.
SalaryCalc.us gives you the full picture instantly — gross to net, every period, every state — for free.
Our Data Sources
- Federal brackets & standard deductions: IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32 (Tax Year 2026)
- FICA rates & wage base: IRS Publication 15 and Social Security Administration
- State income tax: Individual state revenue department publications for tax year 2026
- Contribution limits: IRS Notice 2025-67 (401k, IRA, HSA, FSA)
We update all data annually when the IRS releases inflation adjustments, typically in October or November of the preceding year.
What the Calculator Covers
Limitations
SalaryCalc.us calculates estimates based on standard deductions and published bracket rates. It does not account for itemized deductions, tax credits (child tax credit, earned income credit, etc.), alternative minimum tax, multiple income sources, or local/city income taxes. Results are for informational purposes and should not replace advice from a qualified tax professional.
